A selkie is a mythical creature from Celtic folklore, a shapeshifter that lives as a seal in the sea but can shed it's skin to become a human on land. However, if someone steals or hides the skin, the selkie is forever trapped in human form.

Living in the south west of Ireland, i'm always inspired by the infinite beauty of the coast. When out walking with my dog Lyra, my mind wanders and I think back to the folklore stories told to me as a little girl of these mythical beings. In particular, the selkie.
